The Misadventures of Go-to-Guy, Vol. 1: A Rail of a Tale

dart.jpg

So Tara has asked me to start up the blog bonanza again, and it seems I may have the perfect story (she'll add her two cents later):

As a commuter on the city's public transportation system, I've had some crazy experiences:
- Trains breaking down
- Fights nearly breaking out
- Extended delays

But perhaps nothing was as wacky as my experience today:

A lady, probably in her 40s, sat down in front of me. Everything was fine until about Cityplace, when for no reason she started yelling (I think directly to the man seated next to her, but indirectly to everyone else) about all kinds of things (I can't quite be sure exactly what she said, as I kept turning up my iPod to drown her out, but it had something to do with college degrees, grade-school teachers, and conspiracies), particularly about Jesus and the Holy Spirit, which I found rather ironic (I think this is the right use -- it sure wasn't coincidental) because her speech was littered with profanity. And then at the West End, she turned around to me (probably because I was the only one, other than an older couple, who hadn't made an attempt to move away quickly) and started yelling directly at me, asking "You think this is funny?" Now, I hadn't been laughing and I didn't want to get involved so I didn't respond, just kept trying to look away. Then, she got up, stamped her foot a few times, and got off the train. The other passengers breathed a sigh of relief. An interesting way to start my day, for sure.

Tara, take it away...

NONSENSICAL QUOTE OF THE DAY: Airplane!
Leslie Nielsen: "You'd better tell the Captain we've got to land as soon as we can. This woman has to be gotten to a hospital."
Julie Hagerty: "A hospital? What is it?"
Nielsen: "It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now."

MEANINGFUL QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude." - Thomas Jefferson

I find it ironic that the WFAA intern next door wrote about the same Dart Rail type topic on his intern blog

It is rather coincidental. He was on the same train? To quote Charlie Chan: veddy in-tah-resting.
