Rapping to the Top a.k.a. Link-Crazy

So I think I had the best interview of my short journalistic career yesterday. I gave King Ashoka, a local rapper, a call yesterday and he had an answer for everything. Back in high school, as I'm sure most of you can attest to, interviewing your fellow students is like pulling teeth. And those who are talkative are usually just saying something so they can get into the paper. But yesterday was completely different: it was like talking to a professor or something, someone who knew exactly what he was saying.

It was great, and I really enjoyed writing the story, which I was unsure about. It also got me back into the microcosm of rap that exists on my iPod (N*E*R*D, Kanye West, etc). And speaking of rappers, an amateur rhyme-spitter sat across from me on the train home last night, trying (and failing) to impress the ladies with his flow. It was rather humorous.

Also humorous was this commercial: "100 percent interest? Whatchu talkin' 'bout, Willis?" Actually sad, really. And I caught a rerun of the Daily Show this morning featuring discussion of this totally unnecessary website. And no one skewers better than Mr. Lewis Black. My favorite person in the world, Michael Moore {end sarcasm}, was also on, but I think may actually go see his new movie. It sounds rather straightforward, and not like a personal vendetta. Anyways, tonight is my first "Cheap Date" assignment and I'm really looking forward to it (although, $50 is a rather expensive date in my book). My idea for tonight is this: A Twist on Dinner and a Movie. Marie and I are going to dinner and then taking advantage of Blockbuster's "Buy two, get two free" DVD sale. And when you think about it: that's saving a lot of money versus going to the movies ($18 for 2 tickets + $15 for 2 large drinks and a large popcorn--yikes!). Hopefully it will all go well. And just in case I hadn't given you enough links: here are my two latest works (DVD review and my Changer entry for Straylight Run). They've been up since Tuesday, but I forgot to provide adequate linkage.

NONSENSICAL QUOTE OF THE DAY: Clueless
Paul Rudd: "You know maybe Marky Mark wants to use his popularity for a good cause, make a contribution. In case you've never heard of that, a contribution is..."
Alicia Silverstone: "Excuse me, but I have donated many expensive Italian outfits to Lucy, and as soon I get my license, I fully intend to brake for animals, and I have contributed many hours to helping two lonely teachers find romance."
Rudd: "Which I'll bet serves your interests more than theirs. You know, If I ever saw you do anything that wasn't ninety percent selfish, I'd die of shock."
Silverstone: "Oh, that'd be reason enough for me."

MEANINGFUL QUOTE OF THE DAY:
"If you want to feel rich, just count all of the things you have that money can't buy." - Anonymous
