Puerto Rican Plagiarism

So, just over two weeks into my internship, people are already trying to steal a name I've barely been able to build. A recent e-mail I received stated the following:

"Mr. Ross Taylor,
A member of the BSN forums, Puerto Rico's basketball leag[u]e, has posted a report of yours that I believe is false. It is very similar to your report on Bryan Hopkins taking a shot at the NBA, but only this report says it is Marcu[s] Fizer who is currently playin[g] in Puerto Rico. Below there is a link of the page where the comment was posted.
Is this true or false?"

Sure enough, I checked out the Web site, and someone felt compelled to take my byline and place it on top of a story written by a third party about a similar subject. The story ran along the lines of this one, which ran last Thursday.

I was prepared to link to the actual forum, but the post has since been deleted after I began searching for options for recourse. The forum was a part of this Web site.

So far my experiences at The News have been both amazing and eye-opening, and you can now add Puerto Rican plagiarism to the experience.

EDITOR'S NOTE: As of 3:05 p.m., the two contrasting reports have now been posted here.

That's crazy, man.
