My first byline
On Saturday, I got my first byline for the summer. Exciting, I know!!
The story was about these five fine ladies, Frances, Elida, Josie, Voncille, and Edna, who were receiving volunteer awards. The body of the story was written by Delia Jasso and I was sent out to Mountain View College on Friday to get quotes.
So I walked into the East Foyer of the college and there are endless activities going on, like arts and crafts, eating, and - my personal favorite - singing. The ladies were wearing T-shirts designating them as award winners. They were so humble and welcoming. It was obvious they did a lot for their center.
What surprised me was that they even take trips! They've traveled as far as a casino in Oklahoma with their Senior Center! If I didn't have this internship, I know where I would be spending my summer.
But that isn't even the best part - as I was leaving, Frances insisted that I have a cup of hot chocolate. Who doesn't love hot chocolate at 11 a.m. on a summer day?
