Great Expectations

They don't kid about how fast word travels in this business.

While I was office-hopping for all of my orientation meetings, I came across the "What do you expect out of this experience" and "What are your plans" type questions you'd expect on the first day. But the Internal Affairs blog must be getting some attention on the second floor of the building because as I entered the meetings there was buzz of my "ripping" of my schedule in my first blog post. There has been a lot of good-natured "don't make us call up the second-string intern" ribbing, but needless to say, on my first day as a professional reporter, I was expecting to ask questions, not answer them.

Along the way I've picked up three features/projects to keep my eye on. One involves an event happening in North Texas this weekend, another involves a feature to be looking at long-term for possible publication in August, and the other includes potential work with the High School Football preview, which begins its planning stages tomorrow morning.

As a sports fan and a follower of odds, I'm setting the odds at 3:1 that I have a meeting to discuss the blog post about meetings. Anyone want a piece of that action?

Make a parlay with that, a reporter asking you to get them coffee and someone saying something negative about your college choice and I'm game.

You're an intern, not a professional reporter. Big difference.

Tim, as long as I get newsroom experience and Belo signs the checks, they/you can call me whatever you want.
