Desk update
I bemoaned the fact my desk was oh-so-bear last week and was lucky enough to catch the attention of some of my arts and lifestyles colleagues. Stephen Becker, editor of the movies section, brought me over "Chicken Little" and a "Little Miss Sunshine" Volkswagen bus last week. This morning, two wedding wine glasses showed up.
Misty Bailey, an assistant editor in lifestyles, brought me a Magic 8 Ball. (I know you are all secretly envying me right now because I have a Magic 8 Ball. If you ask politely I may ask it to tell your future, which most certainly involves a lot more work.)
I borrowed a bobble head doll of Red from the movie "Hoodwinked," think Rashomon with the story of Little Red Riding Hood, from reporter Chris Vognar for the summer as well.
My flamingos definitely started the party.
Things are starting to look up at my little space on the fourth floor. It’s not picture worthy quite yet, but if I give it a couple more weeks, it could be.
Comments
Between Tara and Kip, I get the distinct feeling I'm getting hosed on free stuff around here. Other than the Kleenex I've been taking all morning for my allergies, my desk has been fairly bare.
I do have reinforcements coming in from my girlfriend, though. She is going to be out of town for my birthday Thursday, so she gave me my present last night -- A painting of a duck-billed platypus. Awesome, right?
So she doesn't seem totally crazy, I should probably add that we had a conversation about platypusses (platypi?) about two weeks ago and I thought just having an odd, random portrait of a platypus would be totally sweet.
What can I say? She gets me.

Josh, if I had a painting of a duckbill platypus on my desk I wouldn't need anything else.
It's enough to warrant a trip downstairs for me to see when it arrives. It's that awesome. Keep us posted. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to see.

I'll bring the platypus this afternoon after I run home for lunch. I regret posting aboout it unprepared, but it ought to be worth it.
