Apple strudel Pop-Tarts? No thank you.
I love Pop Tarts. My favorite kind is the frosted strawberry variety. I sincerely believe frosted strawberry is everyone else’s favorite as well.
This isn’t an off-the-cuff statement either. I watch vending machines. Last summer at my internship in Colorado the strawberry Pop-Tarts always disappeared first. This summer, they seem to go even quicker.
What’s left are cherry Pop-Tarts or worse: apple strudel Pop-Tarts.
That’s what’s lurking in the second- and third-floor vending machines right now. I bet there are a couple strawberry ones behind the gnarly apple strudel variety. I can’t prove it until someone buys one, though. I’m waiting. Someone will read this and buy an apple strudel Pop-Tarts.
Last summer when I told the man who filled the vending machine that we needed more frosted strawberry and less frosted brown sugar, he looked at me and said: “You know, you can probably get them cheaper in the grocery store.”
Yes, I probably could. But that would defeat the fun of my Pop-Tarts watch.
