Spelling bees are fun

Samir 'The Scimitar' Patel

This handsome devil, Samir Patel, is the focus of my first official story of my internship. I'm writing about the National Spelling Bee that began this morning, with the Fort Worth native "Scimitar" (It'll catch on) advancing after a correct spelling of "decor." Meanwhile, the Morning News' own representative, Amy Chyao, moved on with a correct spelling of "Kentuckian," which is a sweet nickname for me. Call me The Kentuckian from here on out.
